Tri-City Storm News Release
Sioux City, IA. - The Tri-City Storm begins the final week of play in the 2020-2021 regular season tonight in a midweek road game against the Sioux City Musketeers at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA. The Storm need just one point in the standings over the remaining three games of the season to clinch a Western Conference Regular Season Championship for the fourth time in organization history. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
Tri-City (30-15-3-1) enters tonight's game at the Tyson Events Center as the only team in the USHL's Western Conference to clinch a spot in the 2021 Clark Cup Playoffs prior to entering the final week of the regular season. The Storm face the Musketeers for the final time this season tonight after winning five of the first seven games played in this year's eight-game season series. Tri-City has collected points in the standings in nine of its last eleven games, but enters tonight's game after losing three consecutive home games to the Des Moines Buccaneers. Matthew Knies (3), Adam Klapka (2), Hunter Strand, Victor Czerneckianair, Conner Hutchison, and Isac Jonsson all scored goals for Tri-City during the three-game weekend series. Tri-City is 15-8-0-1 in road games this season and the team will play its final road game of the year on Saturday against the Omaha Lancers. The Storm's final home game of the regular season will be played at the Viaero Center on Friday against Omaha. Tri-City has won seven of its last ten games.
Sioux City (28-21-1-0) hosts Tri-City tonight following a 4-0 shutout road victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede on Friday. The Musketeers enter the final week of the regular season outside of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Sioux City will play its final three games of the regular season on home ice, beginning with tonight's game against the Storm. The Musketeers trail the Des Moines Buccaneers by a points percentage of 0.001 for the 4th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Scoring leaders for Sioux City include; Chase Bradley (20), Brian Carrabes (18), Justin Hryckowian (15), Bennett Schimek (11), and Ben Steeves (10).
