Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm defeated in state rival Omaha 5-2 Saturday night at the Viaero Center in Kearney. In the win, Tri-City clinched the regular season series against the Omaha Lancers. Tri-City defeat Lincoln 3-1 on Friday, and its three-goal win against Omaha completed a two-game sweep of "Rivalry Weekend" at the Viaero Center. Tri-City now prepares for a three-game week against Team USA and Madison. The Storm will faceoff against Team USA Thursday at 6:00pm at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.

Tri-City scored the game's first goal just over seven minutes into the 1st period to take a 1-0 lead. Colton Kalezic's goal was scored at 7:14 of the 1st period and was assisted by Ian Murphy and Calvin Dybicz. Joe Molenaar netted his 8th goal of the season in the final five minutes of the period to give the Storm a two-goal advantage. The goal was scored at 15:02 of the 1st period and was assisted by Coly Ambrosio and Zac Jones. Tri-City outshot Omaha 12-11 in the 1st period and carried a 2-0 lead into the 2nd period.

Joe Molenaar scored another goal just over one minute into the period to increase the Storm lead to three goals. Molenaar's 2nd goal of the game and 9th goal of the season was scored on the power play and was assisted by Zac Jones. The Omaha Lancers cut the Tri-City lead to two goals on a goal scored by Travis Mitchell at the 5:18 mark of the 2nd period. Tri-City continued its offensive success with another power play goal minutes later to take a 4-1 lead in the game. The Storm's 2nd power play goal of the night was netted by Keaton Pehrson at the 10:22 mark of the period. Pehrson's goal was his 4th of the season and was assisted by Ruben Rafkin and Joe Molenaar. Khristian Acosta added another Tri-City goal at the 13:03 mark of the period to increase the Storm lead to four goals. Acosta's goal was assisted by Michael Colella and Brendan Budy and gave Tri-City a 5-1 lead. The Lancers responded with a quick goal by Cole Kodsi to cut the Storm lead to three goals. Omaha outshot Tri-City 10-9 in the 2nd period but trailed 5-2 entering the 3rd period.

Neither team found a goal in the 3rd period, Tri-City outshot Omaha 9-7 and won the game by a final score of 5-2. The Storm outshot the Lancers 30-28 and maintained its 1st place lead atop the Western Conference standings. Joe Molenaar was named the game's 1st Star, with Zac Jones and Khristian Acosta picking up 2nd Star and 3rd Star honors. Isaiah Saville made 26 saves on 28 shots to record the victory in net for the Storm.
