Storm Starts 2015 with a Win over Halifax

(Charlottetown, PE) The Island STORM are now into double figures in wins this season with a 116-100 win over the Halifax Rainmen Saturday night in Charlottetown. The STORM record now stands at 10-6, good for first place in the Atlantic Division of the NBL Canada. Halifax falls to 7-8 in second place. The STORM also set a club record by scoring over 100 points for the 11th straight game in front of over 1,700 fans.

It was another team effort by the STORM as seven players scored in double figures. Rashad Whack led the way for the STORM with 19 points while Brandon Robinson and Nick Okorie each had 18. Mike Martin added 14 points while Billy Rush, Louis Birdsong, and Nick Evans each scored 10. Robinson also becomes the third STORM player to go over 1,000 career points behind Antonio Ballard and Al Stewart.

For Halifax, Sefton Barrett had a big night scoring 30 points to go along with 8 rebounds.

Other winners on the night included Trish Carragher won won the 50-50 draw and took home half of the total pot of $1,272.00 while Korey Dunn won the Sherwood Mortgage Brokers draw where his next months mortgage payment, up to $1,000, will be looked after.

The STORM hit the road Sunday for a 2pm game in Moncton against the Miracles. Next home action for the STORM comes up Sunday January 11th at Eastlink Centre when the Mississauga Power make their first visit to PEI this season.
