Halifax Rainmen News Release
The Halifax Rainmen found themselves in foul trouble both early and often during their 116-100 loss to the Island Storm Saturday Night inside Eastlink Centre. With the loss the Rainmen fall to 7-8 on the year.
Both teams combined for a staggering 64 fouls through four quarters of play, however it was the Island Storm who made the most of their trips to the free throw line, hitting 88% on the night, while Halifax once again struggled, hitting a mere 58% from the line. While the game remained close at the half, with the Storm holding a 57-48 lead, Halifax's offensive efforts would be stifled in the third by continued fouls, with Centre Jasonn Hannibal fouling out mid-way through the third. Trailing 91-73 heading into the fourth Halifax was unable to close the gap by a significant amount as time wound down.
Sefton Barrett led the Rainmen with an impressive 30 points on the evening. Barrett was also the top rebounder for the Rainmen, with 8. Joey Haywood contributed 18 points. The Island Storm were led by Rashad Whack, who had 19 points. Brandon Robinson and Nick Okorie each had 18 points for the Storm, with Robinson adding 6 rebounds.
The Halifax Rainmen will look for revenge against the Island Storm on Sunday, January 18th, when we play host inside the Scotiabank Centre. Tip Off time is 2pm with tickets still available for purchase through the Scotiabank Centre Box Office, Ticket Atlantic or by visiting www.rainmenbasketball.ca.
