Storm Signs Local Talent
June 19, 2012 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm is pleased to announce the signing of former Augustana Viking Dan O'Keefe.
Dan O'Keefe made his debut with the Storm in this past weekends win (59-20) against the Omaha Beef. During the game, O'Keefe recorded a total of 3 tackles. He didn't start against Omaha but he was rotated in occasionally. O'Keefe has good knowledge of the game and at the defensive back position.
O'Keefe was a standout defensive back for the Augustana Vikings. He was a redshirt freshman who improved both his playing time and performance each year. His Junior year he started all 13 games and was named All-NSIC South Division defense first team. He also earned All-Region first team and All-America honorable mention honors from the Don Hanson Football Committee. He was also named Academic All-NSIC.
The Storm looks for him to be a stable player and to add depth to the defensive secondary for the playoffs.
"Dan is a hybrid of a couple past great Storm players, Shannon Poppinga and Justin Landis," said Todd Tryon. "The Aberdeen native will play a significant role in our quest for a 2012 National Championship."
