Summerside Storm News Release
(Summerside, PE) The Summerside STORM announced today the signing of Antoine Tisby who was released yesterday by the Halifax Rainmen.
Tisby, a 6'9", 240 pound center from Kansas City, Kansas, played his college basketball at South Carolina. He played last year with the Saint John Mill Rats, this year with the Halifax Rainmen, and in-between played pro basketball in New Zealand.
Tisby was averaging 11.6 points per game and over 7 rebounds per game before being released by the Rainmen. He started 25 of 31 games this season for Halifax.
"Antoine brings added depth to our front court and a legitimate scoring threat from the centre position which I feel we have lacked this season," said Head Coach Joe Salerno. "He is a veteran who understands how to win and will be a great addition to our team."
Tisby will be in the STORM line-up when they play tomorrow night at Oshawa and Saturday night in London. These games can be seen live online by visiting the STORM website and following the webcasting links.
To make room for Tisby, the STORM have released Shamari Spears, who joined the team last week to replace Antonio Ballard who is on the STORMS' injured reserve list. The STORM would like to wish Spears good luck in his future basketball endeavours.
After this week the STORM return home for Prince Edward Island's version of March Madness, five straight home games to end the regular season. The STORM face the Saint John Mill Rats this coming Tuesday night at Credit Union Place in a game rescheduled from Islander Day due to poor weather conditions. The STORM then host Oshawa on March 8th, Halifax on March 10th, London on March 14th, and end the regular season again on March 16th.
All games are shaping up to be very important for the STORM as Saint John and Halifax both have 17 wins and are still in the hunt for the division title with seven and six games remaining respectively. The Moncton Miracles are still in the mix with 19 wins against 20 losses but have just one more game to play in the regular season.
Tickets for the final five regular season STORM home games are on sale at the Credit Union Place box office or by going online at www.stormbasketball.ca. The STORM also offer group ticket packages, a great way for your group or organization to enjoy STORM Pro Basketball. For more information about group ticket packages email info@stormbasketball.ca or phone 902-315-3290.
STORM Season Ticket holders are reminded this Friday is the final day to reserve the seat they've enjoyed all season for the playoffs. Playoff ticket packages for Season Ticket holders and the general public can be purchased at the Credit union Place Box office or online.
