
Storm Set to Host Stars for New Year's Eve Showdown

KEARNEY, NE. - The Tri-City Storm is set to host the Lincoln Stars tonight at the Viaero Center in a New Year's Eve showdown. Tickets for tonight's rivalry matchup may be purchased online by skating to www.StormHockey.com, or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:05pm CT.
Ticket specials for the game include a Nebraska Lottery Rivalry Four-Pack. The rivalry pack ticket package includes four tickets to the game, four hot dogs, four sodas, and ten Nebraska Lottery Scratch-Off Tickets for $44. World Junior A Hockey Challenge Bronze Medalists Trevor Connelly and Philippe Blais-Savoie will be available for autographs and photos following the matchup. The Meet and Greet will begin approximately thirty minutes after the game ends. Canned goods and non-perishable food items will be collected and donated to various local organizations. The first 500 fans who bring an item to be donated will receive a limited-edition photo of Trevor and Philippe, which was taken following the Bronze Medal game, when the United States defeated Sweden 8-5. Canned goods and non-perishable food items will be collected at the start of the Meet and Greet line.
Tri-City (13-11-1-1) dropped back-to-back road games against the Fargo Force at Scheels Arena on Thursday and Friday in the team's return to action from the holiday break. The Storm fell by a final score of 7-2 in Thursday's game, and dropped Friday's game by a final score of 7-4. Jake Rozzi, Artemi Nizameyev, Trevor Connelly, Owen Beckner, Shaun McEwen, and Cam Briere netted goals for Tri-City in the losses. The Storm has dropped three of its last four games, and six of its last nine games entering tonight's final game of the 2023 calendar year. Tri-City currently holds 5th place in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Storm holds a 2-1-0-0 record in head-to-head games played against the Stars this season, and a 15-3-0-0 record in games played against the Stars at the Viaero Center over the last five seasons.
Lincoln (10-16-0-2) swept the Omaha Lancers in a two-game home and home series to begin the weekend, and has won seven of its last eleven games overall entering tonight's road game against Tri-City. The Stars' lone victory over the Storm this season came on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023, at the Ice Box by a final score of 5-3. Jack Pechar (11), Blake Montgomery (10), Jared Mangan (9), Keaton Peters (9), and Dashel Oliver (5) lead the Stars in scoring through the opening twenty-eight games of the 2023-204 regular season. Lincoln has been outscored 13-2 by the Storm in the last two New Year's Eve games played between the two in-state rivals at the Viaero Center.
