Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) will travel to Rapid City, SD to take on the Black Hills Red Dogs in their second game of the season on Saturday, March 26 with kick off at 8:05pm (central) in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. You can listen LIVE to the game on KELO AM 1320 with pre-game starting at 7:45pm. The Storm is coming off a disappointing loss to the Omaha Beef on March 19, and plan to change things around in Rapid City. The Red Dogs also lost their season opener to the Sioux City Bandits, which means that both teams will be looking to capture their first win.
Terrance Bryant will again be taking the snaps at the quarterback position, as the former Red Dogs QB takes the field for the second time in a Storm uniform. Bryant sat some of the second half last week due to an knee injury that he received during the game, but the doctors have given him the green light to go ahead with this Saturday's game. Bryant threw for 143 yards on 13 of 23 passing in the defeat against the Beef and wide receiver Corey Walker led the way with 2 TD's off 3 receptions for 43 yards. James Jones, a former teammate of the Red Dogs, will again march his way down the field as in last week's game where he returned 4 kicks for 102 yards.
Chris Eads and Mark Blackburn led the way last week with 11 and 9 tackles for the game and will plan to do the same against the Red Dogs. Others that will be on the defensive this Saturday will be Andre Fields, Austin Flyger, Nate Fluit, and veteran Shannon Poppinga. Head Coach, Kurtiss Riggs, plans to give the Storm their first victory of the season as he leads the team into Rapid City with a career record of 3-1 against the Red Dogs.
The Storm will have to watch out for Chris Dixon, the new starting quarterback for the Rapid City Red Dogs. Dixon threw for 116 yards off of 14 of 38 passing in last week's loss to the Sioux City Bandits which took place at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA. Other offensive players that will be key components to the Red Dogs offense will be Mike Scott, who rushed for 2 TD's last week, and Mario Patten who had one touchdown off of five receptions for the game. Shedrick Harris and Jesse Ranek both had seven tackles against the Bandits last Saturday.
Individual tickets for Storm home games are also on sale now at the Arena box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or any Ticketmaster location. The Storm's much anticipated home opener is slated for April 9th and a "Championship Re-match" as the Lexington Horsemen visit the Sioux Falls Arena for a 7:05pm kickoff.
