
Storm Opening Night 2007 This Saturday At KeyArena

SEATTLE, Thursday, May 17, 2007 - The Seattle Storm will open their 2007 season against the Western Conference rival Houston Comets at KeyArena beginning at 7 p.m. this Saturday, May 19. The following Wednesday, May 23, Seattle will host the Phoenix Mercury at 7 p.m. The Phoenix game will be televised to a local audience on FSN Northwest.
KeyArena will "Get Struck" as the 2007 Storm team takes the court for the first time this season amid a spectacular display of thunder and lightening special effects. The first 5,000 fans through the KeyArena doors on opening night will receive a free 2007 Storm Magnet Schedule courtesy of Starbucks Coffee featuring a detachable image of Sue Bird. The first 5,000 fans in the arena will also be treated to a "Get Struck" rally bracelet.
Prior to tipoff, fans will experience a performance of the national anthem by Bellevue's International Jazz School Choir and former Storm play-by-play announcer David Locke will be presented with the game ball from his last Storm broadcast (August 18, 2006). Guinness World Record holder Red Panda is scheduled to perform at halftime.
Other Opening Night activities include face painting and sign-making stations located on KeyArena's concourse and the tip off of this season's "Jerseys off our Backs" initiative. Lauren Jackson's jersey will be on the auction block, with other Storm jerseys available for bidding at select games throughout the remainder of the season. All auction proceeds will benefit the Sonics & Storm Foundation.
