The Sioux Falls Storm opens its IFL season this Sunday at 2:05 at Sioux Falls Arena against the Green Bay Blizzard. First Premier is the proud sponsor of the 2012 season opener for the Storm
The Blizzard has brought in a new face, Donovan Porterie, to play quarterback for Green Bay this season. Last season Donovan threw 30 touchdowns to 6 interceptions with the Fairbanks Grizzlies. His overall quarterback play resulted in a 99.0 quarterback rating. Green Bay has also signed a new head coach. Robert Fuller will spend his inaugural season with the Blizzard as head coach. Fuller is a former Omaha Beef coach and spent the 2011 season with Fairbanks where he lead them to an impressive 10-4 season earning IFL Coach of the Year.
The Storm will look to begin a season in which they aim for their 6th National Championship in the last nine years. The Sioux Falls Storm are coming off a championship season and look to start their run at back to back titles against Green Bay. The Storm is 2-0 lifetime against the Blizzard, with their latest win against them being in the conference championship game last season. Chris Dixon returns for his second season with the team after coming off an MVP season with 74 passing touchdowns and 21 rushing touchdowns in 2011. Clinton Solomon will be joining the Sioux Falls Storm for the 2012 season after last season putting up 20 receiving touchdowns up for the Wichita Wild. Kurtiss Riggs is entering his 10th season as head coach with the Storm.
"We've got 15 returning vets and some exciting new rookies that are poised and ready to defend our title," said Storm Owner, Todd Tryon. "We've worked seven months towards this home opener. Sunday can't come soon enough."
Saturday night's Play N' Trade Halftime Act will feature Rubber Boy, a nationally recognized contortionist.
