
Storm Make it Three in a Row on the Road

(Wheeling, WV) The Toledo Storm (32-26-1) defeated the Wheeling Nailers
(23-30-6) 3-1 tonight in Wheeling. You can view a complete box score at

The Nailers opened the game by out shooting Toledo 11-2. However, Toledo
would jump on the scoreboard first as Matt Zultek would score his team
leading 20th goal of the year at 9:40 of the first period. Zultek tucked a
rebound past Wheeling goaltender Andrew Penner (L, 16 saves). Jeff Attard
took the shot, with Gerry Burke also assisting on the power play goal.
Toledo would make it 2-0 at 11:43 when Chris Blight took a pas from Bruce
Mulherin, who was behind the Wheeling net, and blasted a one-timer past
Penner for his 19th goal of the season. Dinos Stamoulis, playing in his
first professional game, collected his first professional point with an
assist on Blight's goal. Blight would extend Toledo's lead to three just 1:25 into the second period
when he capitalized on a rebound placing a one-timer past Penner. Matt
Zultek took the original shot that Penner saved. The Nailers would finally
solve Storm goaltender Logan Koopmans (W, 41 saves) at 13:29 of the second
period when Paul Bissionette wristed a shot past Koopmans to give Wheeling
some life before the third period Despite 17 Wheeling shots in the third period, Toledo collected its third
straight road win. Notes: Penner stopped 53 of 54 Toledo shots last Wednesday night in a 3-1
Wheeling win, but allowed 2 Storm goals in 6 shots of the first period.
Logan Koopmans won his 12th game of the year. Friday night is St. Patrick's Day with the Storm! Toledo will be wearing
