
Storm Lose at Home against Shock

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm's three game win streak was snapped after a 32-50 loss to the Spokane Shock on Saturday, June 12.
The Shock won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. But after a Storm fumble on the opening kickoff, the Shock would recover and take possession. After a quick three and out, Shock kicker Sawyer Petre would hit a 23-yard field goal to take a 0-3 lead. The Storm would answer back with a four-yard rushing touchdown by Nate Chavious, giving the Storm a 7-3 lead. The Shock ended the first quarter with a 7-10 lead after a 12-yard touchdown pass to Davonte Sapp-Lynch from Charles McCullum.
The Storm tied the game at 10 after a 23-yard field goal by Chase Vinatieri to start the second quarter. The Shock answered with a four-yard rushing touchdown by quarterback Charles McCullum, bringing the score to 10-17. The Storm came back with a three-yard quarterback keeper by Tommy Armstrong to bring the score to 16-17 after a failed PAT. The Shock weren't done yet, they would end the half with a 16-24 lead after a 30-yard touchdown pass to Kamrin Solomon from Charles McCullum.
The Storm would score first in the third quarter with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Nate Chavious, bringing the score to 23-24. The Shock ended the third quarter with a 23-31 lead after a 16-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Jolly from Charles McCullum.
The Storm began the fourth quarter with a three-yard quarterback keeper by Tommy Armstrong to bring the score to 29-31 after a failed two-point conversion. The Shock would extend their lead to 29-37 after Lamar Jordan returned the kickoff to the house. The Storm would cut the lead to 32-37 after a 28-yard field goal by Chase Vinatieri. The Shock answered back with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Kamrin Solomon from Charles McCullum, bringing their lead to 32-44. After a Storm fumble on the kickoff, the Shock would recover and retake possession. The Shock ended the game with a six-yard rushing touchdown by Davonte Sapp-Lynch, bringing the final score to 32-50.
Storm quarterback Tommy Armstrong completed 16 of 23 passes for 107 yards along with 57 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Running back Nate Chavious had 40 rushing yards and two touchdowns along with 34 receiving yards. Wide receivers Brandon Sheperd had 18 reception yards and Damian Ford had 51 reception yards. Defensive back Trey Wafford led the Thunder Defense with seven total tackles and 0.5 tackle for loss. Defensive linemen Roosevelt Falls had 0.5 tackle for loss. Defensive back Jermaine Robinson had one tackle for loss and three pass break-ups. Kicker Chase Vinatieri made two out of three field goals.
The Sioux Falls Storm (3-2) will travel to face the Iowa Barnstormers (3-2) on Saturday, June 19 at 7:05 PM. The game will be on YouTube and the Storm will have a viewing party at Blue Rock Bar & Grill.
