Storm Hold on to Defeat Quakes on Saturday

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Lake Elsinore Storm held on for a 4-3 win over the Quakes on Saturday night at LoanMart Field, winning for the second time in three games, after dropping their first seven games in Rancho Cucamonga.

Fighting a Covid outbreak this week, the Storm got a strong debut from Colton Bender, who was one of several players added to the Storm roster in the last few days. Bender had two hits, including the go-ahead home run to put the Storm ahead for good in the fifth against Quakes' starter Gavin Stone.

After taking a 4-3 lead, the Lake Elsinore bullpen stepped up with five scoreless innings to finish the night, as Gabe Morales (3-3), Alek Jacob and Jason Reynolds held the Quakes to just two hits over the final five innings.

Rancho led 2-1 and 3-2 on Saturday, but Stone (0-2) was unable to hold the lead, as he allowed four runs on nine hits over just 4.2 innings, suffering his second loss of the year.

The Quakes got RBI hits from Sauryn Lao, Ismael Alcantara and Aldrich de Jongh on Saturday, as the team combined for just eight total hits in the loss.

Sunday's game now becomes the rubber-game of the five-game series, as the Quakes (46-45) will send Robbie Peto (0-3) to the mound against Storm right-hander Ruben Galindo (3-2). Game time is 5pm and kids will run the bases after the game, thanks to Smile Generation. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
