
Storm Drop Game #2 of Conference Semifinals Series

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm dropped Game #2 of the Western Conference Semifinals by a final score of 5-4 in overtime Saturday night to the Fargo Force. Matthew Knies, Gavin Brindley, Conner Hutchison, and Drew Montgomery each netted goals for Tri-City during the game. Tri-City will now face Fargo tomorrow at the Viaero Center for the 3rd and final game of the Western Conference Semifinals. Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased online at www.StormHockey.com or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:05pm.
Matthew Knies gave Tri-City a 1-0 lead at 13:33 of the 1st period on Saturday night. Isac Jonsson and Conner Hutchison recorded assists on the play. Less than two minutes later, Fargo's Cody Monds netted his first goal of the game to tie the game at 1-1. Shots on goal were 11-11 in the 1st period.
Gavin Brindley scored his first goal of the postseason at 5:24 of the 2nd period to give the Storm its second lead of the game. The goal was assisted by Adam Klapka. At 8:10 of the period, Fargo's Austin Wong scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game at 2-2. At 9:03 of the 2nd period, Conner Hutchison scored a power-play goal to put Tri-City ahead by one. Hutchison's goal was assisted by Adam Klapka and Vinny Borgesi. Tri-City was outshot by Fargo by a 14-9 margin in the 2nd period but carried a one-goal lead into the 3rd period.
Tristan Broz scored a 5 on 3 goal just over five minutes into Saturday's 3rd period to tie the game again. With under ten minutes to play, Drew Montgomery scored for the Storm to give Tri-City its fourth lead of the night. Montgomery's goal was assisted by Kieran Cebrian and Matthew Knies. With less than two minutes to play, Fargo's Aaron Huglen tied the game to force an overtime period. Cody Monds scored his second goal of the game at 2:52 of the overtime period to give Fargo a 5-4 overtime victory.
Brennan Boynton recorded the victory in net for Fargo after making 29 saves on 33 shots. Todd Scott dropped the game for Tri-City in a 30 save on 35 shot performance. The winner of tomorrow's game at the Viaero Center will advance to the 2021 Western Conference Final.
Tri-City returns to action on Sunday, May 2nd in Game #3 of the Western Conference Semifinal round of the 2021 Clark Cup Playoffs. The game will be played at home at the Viaero Center.
