
Storm Caps Record-Long Homestand with 72-60 Win over Atlanta

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm closed out its longest homestand in franchise history with a solid defensive performance, beating the Atlanta Dream 72-60 on Tuesday night at Climate Pledge Arena.
Jewell Loyd matched a season-high with 26 points including 13 in the first quarter, then led the charge with 11 over a 16-2 run in the second half to salt the game away.
Seattle (6-5) used a big third quarter to break open a close game, outscoring the Dream (7-5) 26-14 during the pivotal period. Atlanta would close the gap to four in the fourth quarter, but Seattle scored the final eight points of the game to pull out the win. Breanna Stewart, who scored 19 points in the game, started the final run with a three-pointer and Ezi Magbegor capped it off with her career-best second three-pointer of the game.
Magbegor had another solid showing since returning from health and safety protocols, scoring 19 points on 5-for-6 shooting including 2-of-2 from three-point range, and adding seven rebounds and five blocks. She also connected on a pair of three-pointer For Magbegor, who leads the WNBA in blocked shots at 3.1 per game, recorded at least five blocks in a game for the second time this season. Over her last two games, she is averaging 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, 2.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.
The Storm held Atlanta to 10.5% shooting from three.
It was head coach Tanisha Wright's first game at the helm for the Dream back in Seattle where she played nine seasons and won the 2010 WNBA Championship as a player.
The Storm finishes its franchise-record eight-game homestand with a 5-3 record and now hits the road for its longest road trip of the season, playing five games in four cities over 10 days. The trip begins with a pair of games in Dallas on Friday, June 10, and Sunday, June 12.
