March 4, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of the Indoor Football League (IFL) is pleased to announce that the 2010 camp was a success and the Storm 30 man roster is set.
"We feel like we have a solid 30 man roster, but we will know more after we get a game under our belt," said Head Coach, Kurtiss Riggs.
The Storm 2010 roster is composed of solid returning veterans and high caliber first year players.
Rob Zarrilli will take over the kicking duties for the Storm for the 2010 season. Zarrilli, who is known for his huge leg, was 4th in the nation in field goals made and 7th in all time field goal percentage while playing for Hofstra University. Zarrilli finished his career at Hofstra with a total 49 field goals and 79 extra points.
Tyrone Saterfield will make his debut in 2010 as a member of the Storm helping reinforce an already stout defensive front. Saterfield played his college ball at Louisville. During his 2003 season at Louisville, Saterfield recorded 31 tackles including four more behind the line of scrimmage.
Ledarius Anthony will spend his inaugural season with the storm in 2010. Anthony graduated from Arkansas Pine-Bluff in 2008. During his time with Arkansas Pine-Bluff, Anthony was named to the 2nd team all defense squad in the SWAC conference in 2007 and in 2008. Anthony put up his best numbers his junior year (66 tackles and 10 sacks) despite a broken left thumb and broken right hand for two games.
2010 marks Kenny Akridge's second season with the Storm. He played his college ball at the University of Indianapolis where he was a four-year starter. In Indianapolis, Akridge compiled career totals of 175 tackles, 9 interceptions, 40 deflected passes, and two touchdowns. In a single game in 2006 Akridge tallied eight tackles, five breakups, and a blocked extra point. In 2009 Akridge pulled in a team tying 3 interceptions and also ended up 4th on the team with 46.5 total tackles.
Brian McIntire will returns to the Storm for his fifth campaign with the team. In 2009 he led the Storm in tackles with 68.5 and also tallied three interceptions, one of which went for a touchdown. McIntire's 157.5 career tackles leaves him sitting at 9th all-time in Storm franchise history. During his time at Wartburg, McIntire led his team to three consecutive Iowa Conference Championships, earning NCAA Division III All-American honors in his senior season in 2004.
Brooks Little ventures to Sioux Falls to debut as a wide receiver for the Storm. After finishing his career at the University of South Dakota in 2008, Little held the USD all-time career receptions mark with 166. He finished his college career as one of USD's most accomplished receivers to date tallying 2,365 yards receiving with 16 touchdowns.
Anthony Thomas is entering his third season with the Storm in 2010. Anthony "Big Daddy" has been a versatile player for the Storm having the ability to play on both sides of the ball. In 2006, as a member of the Sioux City Bandits, Thomas led an offensive line that helped the team finish first in the league in rushing, averaging over 90 yards a game on the ground. The University of Arizona graduate also has experience in the NFL and AFL.
Kyle Staudt hopes to continue his winning ways as he enters his first season with the Storm in 2010. He was named to the Great Plains Athletic Conference First Team as a member of the 2009 National Champion USF Cougars. That season, Staudt anchored an Offensive Line that allowed a mere 14 sacks while helping the Cougars to over 250 yards rushing per game.
"It's a relief to put the past six months of preparation behind us, and it is time to see what this is all about," stated Storm Owner, Todd Tryon.
The Storm kickoff the Season of Redemption this Saturday, March 6th against the Omaha Beef at the Omaha Civic Auditorium Arena with a 7:05pm kickoff.
