CLEARWATER, Fla. - Joe Ryan struck out eight batters Wednesday, leading the Charlotte Stone Crabs to a 2-0 blanking of the Dunedin Blue Jays at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium.

Ryan (3-2) fanned eight batters for the fourth straight outing, limiting Dunedin (35-23) to two hits and two walks over 5.1 scoreless innings. Ryan leads the Tampa Bay organization with 82 strikeouts for the season.

Charlotte (31-28) relievers Jack Laboksy and Chandler Raiden combined to shut out the Blue Jays for the final 3.2 frames. Labosky did not allow a hit over 2.1 innings. Raiden notched his fourth save.

The Stone Crabs got the offense rolling immediately against Dunedin starter Joey Murray (2-1). Jim Haley was hit with a pitch before Michael Perez lined a single to right. With runners at first and second, Taylor Walls pulled a base hit into right to give Charlotte a 1-0 lead.

From there, Murray and Ryan traded zeroes until the top of the eighth. Haley led off the inning by cranking a double to center. The next batter was Perez, who lined a single to right to chase home Haley and make it 2-0.

The Stone Crabs will go for the series victory against the first-place Blue Jays at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Tobias Myers (5-1, 2.83) will pitch for the Stone Crabs, opposed by Turner Larkins (4-3, 2.63) of Dunedin. The game will be covered on the team's social media outlets.
