Stockton's Sexsmith Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Tyson Sexsmith of the Stockton Thunder is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Oct. 18-24.

The 21 year old was 2-0-0 with a goals-against-average of 1.44 and a save percentage of .941 in two appearances against Pacific Division rival Ontario. He turned aside 23 of 24 shots on Friday and then made 25 saves and stopped 4 out of 5 shots in the shootout to lead the Thunder to victory on Saturday.

Sexsmith, who is under contract to San Jose of the National Hockey League, is now 2-1-1 in his four starts for the Thunder this season.

A third round selection of the Sharks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Sexsmith went 2-0-0 in two games with the Kalamazoo Wings last season with a goals- against average of 2.50 and a save percentage of .932. He also appeared in 13 games for the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League, going 4-6-1 with one shutout, a goals-against average of 3.94 and a save percentage of .860.

Runners Up: Chris Carrozzi, Gwinnett (2-0-0, 2.00 GAA, .935 save pct.) and Ryan Nie, Kalamazoo (3-0-0, 2.21 GAA, .923 save pct.).

Also Nominated: Josh Tordjman (Bakersfield), Michael Ouzas (Las Vegas), Kellen Briggs (Ontario), Scott Campbell (Toledo), J.P. Lamoureux (Utah) and Riley Gill (Victoria).
