Stockton Kings to Host and Participate in Holiday Efforts to Benefit Local Students and Families
Stockton, Calif. -â¯In the spirit of the upcoming holidays, the Stockton Kings announced two events to help give back to local students and families. From Monday, November 30 to Saturday, December 5, the Stockton Kings, in partnership with Stockton Honda, will host the third annual "Stuff the Bus" donation drive to receive school supplies to benefit students in need within the Stockton Unified School District (SUSD). The Stockton Kings will also participate in the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) of San Joaquin County's "Adopt-a-Family" program on Wednesday, December 9, as part of their annual Day of Doing Good, presented by Amy L. Scriven, DDS.
"Due to the global pandemic, many people have a greater need for assistance. The Stockton Kings aim to alleviate some of this need through our holiday giveback events," said Stockton Kings Vice President of Business Operations Dustin Toms. "We are excited to work together with the community and interact with our fans while exercising health and safety measures like social distancing." â¯
Fans are encouraged to help the Stockton Kings efforts to give back through the "Stuff the Bus" initiative in two different ways. They can visit Stagg High School on Saturday, December 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or stop by Stockton Unified School District sites or Stockton Honda from November 30 to December 5 to drop off items. "Stockton Unified is committed to establishing a high-performing and caring culture in our school the school district and our community," said SUSD Director of Marketing and Communications Shelley Spessard. "We are honored to partner with the Stockton Kings on the Stuff the Bus campaign. The supplies collected will directly support our amazing students during Distance Learning and beyond."
In addition to the "Stuff the Bus" campaign, the Stockton Kings will adopt several families from the CAPC of San Joaquin County for their annual Day of Doing Good. For this effort, Stockton team members will receive the families' wish lists, go shopping for the items, wrap them and drop them off at the CAPC office for families to pick up ahead of the holidays.
"The Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC)â¯is grateful for the support of the Stockton Kings through our Adopt A Family for the Holidays Program," said CAPC Director of Marketing and Development Shauna Buzunis-Jacob. "The CAPC protects children and strengthens the families in our community. We have seen the additional stress COVID has brought into homes with families already struggling with circumstances that overwhelm their ability to cope... and we have also seen a community willing to help.⯠Thank you, Stockton Kings, for opening your hearts and ensuring that all our kiddos have magical memories this year!"
Due to the current global pandemic, the Stockton Kings are dedicated to enacting safe and healthy practices into the planning of all events, including the use of masks, social distancing and reducing crowds with accessible entrance and exit strategies.
