Saint Louis FC News Release

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Saint Louis FC played to its fourth consecutive draw in USL play as Sam Fink's second-half header earned his side a point against Harrisburg City Islanders Saturday night at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.

With the draw, STL FC is now 3-3-5 (14 pts.) while Harrisburg moves to 4-3-3 (15 pts.).

"I think it shows the quality of the league," Head Coach Dale Schilly said of his team's recent run of results. "I also think this game once again showed the character and guts of our guys."

Harrisburg created several quality chances in the first half and took the 1-0 lead in the 37th minute. Eric Ayuk brought down a pass from Neil Shaffer and cut inside before beating Alec Kann with a low shot.

Kann would come up big just before halftime, however, making a point-blank save off a Harrisburg corner kick. He finished with six saves on the night.

After the game was delayed 35 minutes due to lightning early in the second half, STL FC increased the pressure and eventually found an equalizer. Off a short corner, substitute Charles Renken floated a ball to the far post and Fink smashed home a powerful header to knot the score at 1-1. It was the Edwardsville native's second goal of the season.

"This game was a team effort," Fink said. "From the back to the front, it was a good match for our team."

Saint Louis FC will have a quick turnaround as it prepares to face Sporting Kansas City in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday. The match is scheduled for 7:30 PM at Sporting Park.
