
Stingrays' Zakrzewski a Finalist for 2011-12 ECHL Broadcaster of the Year Award

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced on Friday that Bob Mills of the Chicago Express is the 2011-12 recipient of the ECHL Broadcaster of the Year award as determined in voting by league media relations directors and broadcasters. Stingrays Media Specialist and Broadcaster Joseph Zakrzewski was a finalist for the second straight season.
The other finalists were Josh Bogorad of the Alaska Aces and Matt Melzak of the Toledo Walleye.
Zakrzewski joined the Stingrays for the 2009-10 season and was part of the radio broadcast team for the 2010 ECHL All-Star Classic in Ontario, California. The Houston, Texas, native graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2009 with a degree in Mass Communications specializing in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in English. From 2007-09, Zakrzewski served as the Broadcasting Assistant with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. Following graduation, he became the broadcaster of the Battle Creek Bombers baseball team of the Northwoods League and was a member of the broadcast team for the 2009 NWL All-Star Game in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
