Kelly Cup Finals

The Titans have taken a 3-2 lead in the Kelly Cup finals after bouncing back with five goals in the third period to beat Florida 5-2 Monday night.

The first 40 minutes belonged to the Everblades as they dominated the play at both ends of the ice. Florida opened the scoring when David Lundbohm chipped a rebound past Trenton goaltender Andrew Allen 7:12 into the first period. The Everblades extended their lead to 2-0 at 13:16 of the second period on a power play goal by Damian Surma.

However, the tide shifted in the third period when Leon Hayward opened the flood-gates scoring the first of his two goals on a breakaway just 2:53 into the frame. The Titans tied the game at 8:36 of the period when Stephen Wood blasted a point shot past Everblades net-minder Tyler MacKay.

With the momentum in their favor, the Titans took the lead for good at 10:26 of the period on B.J. Abel's third playoff tally. Trenton added some insurance on Hayward's second of the night at 12:35, and closed out the scoring at 17:45 on Les Haggett's second of the post-season.

The five-goal outburst in one period was the second put together by the Titans in the series.

The Everblades and Titans play game six of the Kelly Cup Finals on Wednesday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena.
