The Week That Was...

After taking down the Florida Everblades in Game 6 last week Monday, the South Carolina Stingrays opened the Eastern Conference Finals Friday night against the Toledo Walleye at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Game 1: Eastern Conference Finals - Huntington Center

Appearing in their first Eastern Conference Finals since 2009, the Stingrays picked up a 2-1 victory in Game 1 behind goals from forward Wayne Simpson and defenseman Michal Cajkovsky. Cajkovsky buried the game-winning goal with 3.3 seconds left in the second period to propel the Stingrays to a 1-0 series lead.

Game 2: Eastern Conference Finals - Huntington Center

Looking to shake off a tough loss in the opening contest, the Walleye jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period of Game 2 Saturday evening, capitalizing on Stingrays turnovers. The Stingrays regrouped in the intermission and fought back with three goals in the second period off the stick of forward Caleb Herbert and Cajkovsky. Forward Derek DeBlois added a tally in the third period to make it 4-2 before the Walleye were able to squeak in goal late in the contest.
