Steve Shak Selected to A-League Team of the Week for Second Consecutive Week

Virginia Beach, VA– In back-to-back matches against the Rochester Raging Rhinos on April 17 and 24, Mariner midfielder Steve Shak scored two goals and one assist. For his game-winning goal in the Mariners’ 3-0 win over the Rhinos on April 24, Shak was named to this week’s A-League Team of the Week by the United Soccer Leagues. He was named to the Team of the Week last week for his one goal, one assist performance on April 17 in the Mariners’ 4-0 shutout of Rochester.

Shak, a former member of the U.S. Under-23 National Team and a 3-year MLS veteran, was playing for Second Division Boden BK before being signed by the Mariners. He made his debut with the Mariners on July 2 of this year. The 6-1,158-pound Shak was the number one pick in the 2000 Major League Soccer Draft by the New York/New Jersey Metrostars.
