Mustangs @ Whitecaps
This Friday's live USL on Fox Sports World A-League match takes place at Swangard Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia as the Calgary Mustangs take on the Vancouver Whitecaps. Kickoff is set for 11:00 pm ET.
Calgary Mustangs (2-13-3)
The Mustangs will be trying to turn around a 10-game winless streak. Their last points came in a 1-1 tie with Edmonton FC back on June 25th.
A-League Player of the Week for Week 10, forward Conrad Smith leads the team in points with 11 on five goals and one assist. Three of his teammates are tied for second with five points, all with two goals and an assist.
Vancouver Whitecaps (12-5-2)
The Whitecaps are riding a five-game unbeaten streak and a three-game winning streak. Their 4-0 defeat of the Milwaukee Wave United last weekend put them squarely atop the Western Conference standings with 38 points.
Forward Davide Xausa leads the team with six goals and one assist for 13 points. Goalkeeper Alex Marques has a 0.698 GAA in his 12 games played, good for third in the league.
History
This is the final meeting between the two teams this season, with Vancouver holding a 2-1-0 advantage in the 2004 series. The Whitecaps took the first two games before the Mustangs rebounded with a 3-0 win on June 18th.
Special Guest
Ethan Zohn, winner of Survivor: Africa, will be the sideline reporter for this match. Ethan won $1 million for being the sole survivor back in January of 2002. He now dedicates his free time to charity organizations, including Grassroot Soccer, an international AIDS awareness and education organization.
