Charleston, SC. Midfielder Stephen Armstrong has agreed to terms with the Charleston Battery and will return for the 2008 & 2009 USL First Division seasons. Armstrong enjoyed a stellar year with the Battery in 2007, leading the team with 11 goals and 2 assists for a total of 24 points; following the season Armstrong was named to the USL First Division All-League First Team.

"It is always nice when you can re-sign a senior professional like Stephen; he has the capabilities of making a big difference both on and off the field. He has scored some tremendous goals for us and we look forward to him bringing more to Blackbaud Stadium over the next two years."
Armstrong's two-year Battery totals now include 19 goals with 3 assists (41 points) in 52 games played, elevating him to fifth all-time on the points list.
Prior to the Battery Armstrong played four years in Major League Soccer with DC United, the Kansas City Wizards and the Columbus Crew; his four-year MLS totals include 77 games played, with 8 goals and 6 assists.
A native of Birkenhead, UK, Armstrong, 5-10, 165 lbs, 31 yrs, was raised in South Africa and attended Butler University before turning pro.

The Charleston Battery will offer a three-day soccer camp at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island, December 26-28; campers can attend full day (9-4) or half-day (9-12).
