North Adams SteepleCats News Release
LATE RALLY STUNS MYSTIC IN 9-4 'CATS ROAD WIN SUNDAY
After enduring a five-game losing streak over the course of a difficult week, North Adams bounced back with a pair of road wins to close out the weekend, as the SteepleCats topped Holyoke, 5-4, at MacKenzie Stadium on Saturday before rallying to stun Mystic, 9-4, at Fitch High School on Sunday to wrap up a 2-5 week for the 'Cats.
Trailing by two (2-0) heading to the top of the eighth, the SteepleCat bats exploded thanks to a game-tying RBI double from Julian Loret de Mola before freshman Kevin Martir drove in a pair on another double down the right field line. That prompted Dominic Severino's two-run bomb over the left field wall to push the 'Cats ahead, 6-2, before junior Bryan Soloman wrapped up the offensive onslaught with a three-run jack in the top of the ninth to settle for the final margin of victory on the day.
WEEK IN REVIEW
Heading into the week 4-3, the SteepleCats endured a tough stretch to start, dropping five straight contests - including four at home - before rebounding with back-to-back wins to close out the week. On Monday, North Adams welcomed archrival Keene for the first meeting of the season. After erasing a three-run deficit and loading the bases in the bottom of the eighth with nobody out, the SteepleCats were unable to capitalize and watched the Swamp Bats tack on the deciding run in the top of the ninth to hand North Adams a 6-5 setback on Monday night.
The 'Cats hit the road on Tuesday and dropped an 8-3 decision at Vermont before returning home to round out the home-and-home series against the Mountaineers. Despite nine innings of fabulous pitching from both the starters and relievers, Vermont tacked on the game's only run in the top of the 10th and held on for a 1-0 victory over North Adams on Wednesday at The Joe.
North Adams then welcomed Plymouth for a makeup game on Thursday but could hold hold on two an early 2-0 lead, as the Pilgrims got to the SteepleCats' bullpen late in the game to take the first-ever meeting between the two teams, 5-2.
On Friday, Mystic became the first team of the season to record an earned run against reigning NECBL Pitcher of the Week Scott Squier, as the Schooners and SteepleCats went back and forth over six innings before the visitors tallied the deciding run in the seventh to pull of a 5-3 win in the Berkshires.
But heading to the weekend, the SteepleCats bucked their five-game losing streak with back-to-back road wins, starting with a 5-4 victory at Holyoke after witholding a late rally from the Blue Sox. Finally, on Sunday, the 'Cats erased a late two-run deficit with six runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth to top the Schooners, 9-4, for the team's first-ever win at Fitch High School.

It is our mission to continue to put a quality team on the field and to create a memorable experience for all fans.
The 2012 season was filled with many wonderful memories and highlights, both on and off the field. Some of the off-field activities included:
- Nearly 20,000 fans coming to the ballpark.
- Visiting all of the local elementary schools to read, meet, and play with our youth.
- Distributed over 3,000 tickets to elementary school students.
- Bringing parents and friends in from all over the country to learn that our area is a special place to visit and live.
- Providing opportunities for our players off field to help them develop life skills through team building and exposure to a variety of activities.
- Sustaining the SteepleCats deep commitment to our community through player participation in our communities and our schools.
As we begin to plan for the 2013 season, the SteepleCats will need the support of our community once again.
