North Adams SteepleCats News Release

Cats had their first road test tonight as they headed to Alumni Field to take on the Keene SwampBats. In a back-and-forth game that saw the Cats fall behind 5-3 after 4 innings it was Alex Gomes that came in from the bullpen and restored order as he went 5 whole innings allowing only 3 hits, 2 walks and striking out 4 hitters as he gave the offense to find itself in the back half of the game. Brian Picone cut the deficit in half with the first SteepleCat homer of the season as he sent one over the right-center field wall. Then pitching dominated until the 8th inning where Marcus Chavez who was hitless on the day put that all behind him with a screaming double in the left-center gap that plated the tying run. One batter later Josh Loeffler singled home Chavez after he stole third. In the bottom of the inning Josh Loeffler put in his bid for a top ten play as he went full superman dive into left-center to rob what would have been at least a double and maybe more. Gomes pitched into the ninth and with two outs and a runner on third Jacob Abbott closed the door with a strikeout looking to wrap up the third SteepleCat win in as many games. Cats will look to stay hot as they head home and look to make it 4 in-a-row.
