SteepleCats Continue Dominance against Mountaineers

North Adams SteepleCats News Release

Offense, defense, and pitching were all areas that the North Adams SteepleCats dominated in Tuesday night in a 10-0 shutout victory over the Vermont Mountaineers in Montpelier. The victory improved the SteepleCats to 22-18 on the season and was their fourth straight win. The SteepleCats also improved to 4-0 on the season against the Mountaineers.

"We kind of kept the same message we have had all week," said Head Coach Mike Armstrong. "We went out here and took care of business. It was great."

CJ Price helped carry the SteepleCats offense with four hits, three runs scored, and three runs batted in. His first hit was a single in the second that advanced Noah Vaughan to second. Both Vaughan and Price ultimately came in to score giving the SteepleCats a 2-0 lead. Price led off the fourth with a double and then came in to score on an error making it 3-0 SteepleCats.

"I just tried to live in the moment and just see the ball and hit the ball," said Price. "Sometimes the hits fall and today happened to be one of those days."

He came to bat in the fifth with one out and the bases loaded. He singled home two runs and then later came in to score on a single by Kyle Brennan. He doubled again in the sixth scoring Edward Haus making it 9-0 SteepleCats.

Pitching wise, the SteepleCats got five shutout innings of their starter Ben Olson. Olson recorded three strikeouts and did not allow a hit.

"My fastball was working today in and out on hitters and that was probably the big thing for me," said Olson. "I was able to use that to get outs and let the defense work for me."

The team no hitter lasted until the seventh when Davis Feldman hit a leadoff single against 'Cats reliever Josh Simpson. Simpson took over for Olson to begin the sixth and pitched two shutout innings. Jared Habershaw followed with a scoreless eighth and Andrew Camiolo pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the shutout victory for the SteepleCats.
