
Steelheads acquire Lawrence Nelson

Gary, IN: The Gary Steelheads today acquired the services of 6-10 center Lawrence Nelson in a trade with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Nelson was acquired for a 2nd Round pick in the 2005 CBA Draft. Nelson will be on the bench for the Steelheads next game on February 17th in Michigan.
Nelson played 24 games for the Skyforce this season, averaging 5.4 points and 2.9 rebounds a game. Nelson is ranking 1st in the CBA in field goal percentage, 64.7 %, and 5th in blocks, 1.1 a game. Nelson has prior experience playing for Steelheads Head Coach Dale Osbourne, as he was a member of the 2004 Dodge City Legend of the USBL also coached by Osbourne.
"Lawrence provides a defensive presence now that Dan Watts is no longer with us," said Steelheads Head Coach Dale Osbourne. "He can score in the low post and do some things that we are lacking as a team. He is a welcomed addition to the Steelheads family."
