Steelhawks Visit Lions Den
April 10, 2018 - National Arena League (NAL)
Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release
Allentown, PA: After a week one bye, the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks open their 2018 NAL season on the road as they travel to Columbus, GA to take on the Lions in the jungle. The Friday night game (April 13th) will kickoff at 7:30pm. The game will be streamed on YouTube for all fans.
This will be each team's first game of the season but not the first time the franchises have met. Columbus and Lehigh Valley have played in the same league since 2013 and have faced off numerous times. With the exception of last year's playoff game, the home team has come out with the victory each time the teams have met. The team is looking to avenge last seasons heartbreaking playoff loss at the hands of the Lions.
The Steelhawks have a few veteran players returning, but overall have a young team and new coaching staff. The franchise's all-time leading wide receiver Brandon Renford returns for his fifth season but is playing with rookie Quarterbacks in Caleb Walton and Seth Higgins. Lehigh Valley's most experienced group is the defensive backfield - Dom Joseph, Rodney Hall Jr., and Lenroy Neysmith all played with the team last year.
Columbus has a core group of veterans returning all over the field - quarterback Mason Espinosa, receivers Jarmon Fortson and Tristan Purifoy, and defensive player Chris Pickett.
While both teams will likely have to knock the rust off in their season opener, the Steelhawks will have to withstand a high-powered attack and hard-hitting defense as they continue to build chemistry.
The Steelhawks return to the Valley for their Home Opener next week. They host the Maine Mammoths on Saturday, April 21st at 7:00pm on Embassy Bank Field inside the PPL Center.
Single game tickets, three game packs and 2018 season ticket packages are on sale now. Season tickets start as low as $56! Call 610-224-4625 to reserve your seats. All Steelhawks games are played on Embassy Bank Field inside the PPL Center.
