
Steelhawks Medina Named IFL Special Teams Player of the Week

Bethlehem, PA: In release made today, the league office of the Indoor Football League announced that Lehigh Valley Steelhawks Defensive Tackle Chris Medina was selected as the Week Three VidSwap.com Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the team's last second victory over the 2010 Defending Atlantic Division Champion Richmond Revolution.
Medina becomes the first member of the Steelhawks to earn weekly accolades for his on the field performance. The Revolution had no answer for him as penetrated the line to block two extra point attempts, and one field goal try in a close three point contest. The three blocked kicks in a single game is the most by any player in the IFL this season. Medina made a case for Defensive Player of the Week honors as well as he recorded five tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery to help the Steelhawks earn their first victory in team history. Look for Medina to once again be a force in the trenches as they take on this same Revolution team in their Home Opener next Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Stabler Arena on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University.
The league also announced that Tri-Cities Fever Wide Receiver Oliver Young and Chicago Slaughter Defensive Lineman Johnathan Kowalyshan were selected as the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week respectively.
The team will now receive a week of rest before gearing up to take on this same Richmond Revolution team in two weeks in their Home Opener. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Stabler Arena on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University on Saturday, March 19th.
