Steelhawks Head to Lions Den

May 28, 2014 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL)
Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release

Bethlehem, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (4-3) will journey all the way to Columbus, Georgia to face the Lions (3-4) this weekend. Both teams are looking to pick up a win after struggling in recent weeks.

Lehigh Valley quarterback Adam Bednarik returns to action this week after missing a week due to injury. Bednarik brings an undeniable leadership to the offensive side of the ball. WR Richie Martin (22 catches for 208 yds, 4 tds) has stepped up in recent weeks to become a valuable target. He led the Steelhawks receivers with eight catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns in last week's game in Trenton.

The Steelhawks defense has been invaluable this season. They have been led by the play of their defensive backs - Dwayne Hollis (41 tackles, 5 ints, 9 pbus), Stefaun Whitehead (30.5 tackles, 2 ints, 6 pbus), Terrance Osborne (28 tackles, 2 ints, 3 pbus), and Stanley Dunbar Jr. (25 tackles, 1 int, 3 pbus). Hollis leads the league in tackles and is second in total interceptions.

Lehigh Valley's entire defense will be up against a Columbus offense that has been putting up great numbers so far this season. They are the league's current leading scoring offense. Lions' leading wide receiver, Jarmon Fortson (38 catches for 616 yds, 12 tds), has the second most receiving yards on the league. The Lions' defense is led by DB Damian Daniels (21 tackles, 6 ints), league leader in interceptions. DL Jerry Willis has contributed 4.5 sacks, 6 tackles for a loss, and 15 tackles.

This weekend's game will kickoff at 7:00pm EST on Saturday. Check for score updates on the Steelhawks Facebook and Twitter accounts. The PIFL website and Facebook page should also have updates. The Steelhawks will be on the road for three more away games. Their next stop will be in Richmond, VA to face the Raiders. They return to the Lehigh Valley for their final home game, and their 2014 PIFL regular season finale, for a June 28th matchup with rival Richmond Raiders. It will also be Fan Appreciation Night.
