Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release
Allentown, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (0-7) have a Mammoth task in front of them as they look to get their first win this season. They play Maine (1-6) this Saturday in Portland. The Mammoths came away with the win in the teams first meeting in April.
The Steelhawks are still in the rebuilding phase with new Head Coach Danton Barto but have been playing better football as of late. They played their best game so far, a loss to Carolina, in their last game. But some recent additions to the offensive line (Lockett) has allowed young quarterbacks Caleb Walton and Matt Foltz to have more time to make reads. Wide out FJ Williams had a break out performance last game with 13 catches for 120 yds and a touchdown.
Maine has been led by veteran quarterback Johnathan Bane (1,248 yds, 27 tds passing). His favorite targets have been Edgar Poe (49 catches, 407 yds, 11 tds) and Devin Wilson (37 catches, 448 yds, 12 tds). Defensive back Keiron Jones Sr. has been leading their defense in tackles and has three interceptions on the year to go along with 14 pass break ups.
If the Steelhawks continue to put pieces together and play together, they can even the series with Maine and claim their first win of the season.
Lehigh Valley is on the road again for their game the following week, this one in Massachusetts. They return to the 'Hawks Nest on June 30th to host the Jacksonville Sharks. The game is presented by Lehigh Valley International Airport.
