Steel Acquire Ben Mirageas from Bloomington

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - With the USHL Trade Deadline approaching at 6 p.m. CST Monday, the Chicago Steel bolstered their blueline by acquiring two-way defenseman Ben Mirageas from the Bloomington Thunder in exchange for right wing Walker Duehr.

Mirageas, a Providence College (Hockey East) commit, received a 'B' rating from NHL Central Scouting as a 2nd/3rd round candidate for the 2017 NHL Draft, which will be held June 23-24 at United Center in Chicago. A 6-foot, 170-pound, left-shot defenseman, Mirageas was ranked 48th among North American Skaters in NHL Central Scouting's Midterm Rankings, and 12th among North American Defensemen.

A native of Newburyport, Mass., Mirageas skated in the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game this past September in Philadelphia. He was also selected for last month's USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Sioux Falls, S.D. The 17-year-old blueliner has skated in 49 career USHL games for the Thunder, recording one goal and nine assists.

Duehr appeared in 43 games for the Steel this season, notching 27 points (12G+15A). The 19-year-old forward is committed to Minnesota State University, Mankato (WCHA).

This weekend, the Steel head to Nebraska for games Saturday, March 4 at the Lincoln Stars (7:05 p.m.), and Sunday, March 5 at the Omaha Lancers (5:05 p.m.). Chicago's next home games take place March 10-11 against Team USA and Muskegon. Friday, March 10 is Super Mar10 Night, and Saturday, March 11 is Faith and Family Night.
