Steamwheelers Receivers Close to af2 History

July 3, 2003 - arenafootball2 (af2) - Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

DAVENPORT, Iowa – af2 history is something that the Quad City Steamwheelers seem to make a lot of. Well, it is not too far away from happening again as one Steamwheelers receiver is 122 yards away from being the third Steamwheelers receiver to eclipse the 1,000 receiving yard mark for the season, something that has no other trio of receivers have done before in af2 history.

WR/DB Tim Dodge is currently sitting at 878 receiving yards on 56 receptions. And after his ten receptions for 118 yards against the Hawaiian Islanders, things are looking pretty positive for Dodge, the Steamwheelers and their shot at history. Especially considering the ‘Wheelers have four games remaining. Dodge would need to average 30.5 yards per game in order to hit 1,000 receiving yards.

WR/DB Jeff Hewitt and OS Ira Gooch have all ready hit the 1,000+ receiving yards mark. Hewitt just went over the 1,000 yards mark this past weekend against the Hawaiian Islanders with his seven catches for 78 yards performance and now sits at 1,019 yards for the season.

Gooch hit the 1,000 yards mark three weeks ago against the Louisville Fire, when he caught six passes for 115 yards. Gooch has 1,075 receiving yards for the season.

The Steamwheelers are in preparation for the Green Bay Blizzard today, practicing from 5-7 p.m. at The MARK of the Quad Cities. The ‘Wheelers will take on the Blizzard in Green Bay, Wis. on Saturday at the Resch Center at 7:30 p.m. Fans looking to make the trip can visit for more information.

The Steamwheelers will then return home for their last two regular season home games to take on the San Diego Riptide on the 12th and the Tennessee Valley Vipers on the 19th.

Good seats are still available and can be purchased at The MARK box office or through TicketMaster at or by calling 563.326.1111.
