Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

BETTENDORF, Iowa - The Quad City Steamwheelers Fan Club is organizing and sponsoring a fan event that will be the first of its' kind in the Quad Cities as they prepare for an exciting finish to the 2005 season. There are still two weeks to go in the regular season and one more win will clinch a playoff birth for the Steamwheelers. The af2 playoffs are scheduled to start on August 5th and 6th with the ArenaCup being played on Saturday, August 27th in Bossier City, LA.

The very nature of the post season tournament makes it kind of difficult to schedule such an event because the banquet has to be held when the season is done. Therefore, the 2005 Player Recognition Banquet will be held on the Monday immediately following the Steamwheelers last game played in 2005. It has to be that way and we hope that fans that follow the Steamwheelers can free up their Monday whenever that last game is played. Hopefully that will be August 29th but whenever it is, we'll be ready.

The event is going to be held at the Lodge in Bettendorf, IA starting at 6:00 PM till 10:00 PM. It will be the last chance for fans to mingle with the players and share their 2005 memories. The Fan Club will formally recognize each player and coach for their contributions to keeping Steamwheelers football exciting and something for the fans to cheer about as it adds to the quality of life here in the Quad Cities.

The Fan Club will also recognize their sponsors for without them, a lot of the activities would not have been possible.

During the course of the season, the Fan Club conducted 50/50 raffles at the home games with half the proceeds ear-marked for charity. This year, the Fan Club will present a check to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Quad Cities based on a members vote in their July meeting.

The event will have a photo slide show presentation as well a 2005 Video Highlight on DVD that is being produced by member Cory Schroeder who also serves as the Fan Club's Vice President. Music entertainment will be provided by the Entertainment Source. Buffet style food will be provided as well as a cash bar and door prizes.

For additional information, fans can inquire with the Fan Club, the Steamwheelers office, or online at www.SteamwheelerFans.com - the official fan site of the Quad City Steamwheelers. Tickets are available for $10.00 each ($7.00 children 10 and under).

Media Note: Members of the media are invited to attend this event so they can see what kind of support the Fan Club has been providing the team throughout the entire season.
