July 19, 2005 - arenafootball2 (af2) News Release

CHICAGO - Tulsa offensive specialist DONOVAN MORGAN, Bakersfield fullback/linebacker NICK ONAINDIA and Memphis offensive lineman/defensive lineman KHREEM SMITH have been named the Offensive Player, U.S. Army Ironman and ADT Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 16 of the 2005 season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Morgan (6-3, 205, Pearl River CC), in his rookie season, set af2 records for touchdown receptions and scoring in a single season in Tulsa's 58-49 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Dorados on Saturday. Against the Dorados, Morgan caught 10 passes for 125 yards and five touchdowns. He also returned four kickoffs 41 yards. His five scores gave him 46 touchdown receptions for the season, passing the old mark of 45 by Jack Walker Jr. in 2003. On the season Morgan has 49 total touchdowns and one two-point conversion to bring his season point total to 296 and counting, besting Shon King's 284 in 2000. Morgan can extend these marks when he plays at home against Amarillo this week and on the road at Oklahoma City next week. This is the first weekly award for Morgan. Teammate Chris Canty earned ADT Defensive Player of the Week honors last week.

U.S. ARMY IRONMAN OF THE WEEK

Onaindia (6-3, 245, Utah State), in his third season, made plays on both sides of the ball in Bakersfield's 56-33 victory over the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings on Friday night. The former Aggie made his biggest impact on defense. He recorded 4.0 tackles (three solo), 2.5 sacks, two blocked kicks and one pass broken up. He registered two safeties, one on a blocked kick and one on a sack. On offense Onaindia rushed five times for 12 yards and one touchdown. He also caught one pass for 12 yards. Onaindia was a key reason the Blitz jumped out to a 31-8 lead against the Battle Wings. This is Onaindia's first weekly award of his career. Teammate Nathan Munson won this same award in Week 6 of this season.

ADT DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
