Steamwheelers Earn 10th Franchise Victory with 54-27 Victory Over the Peoria Pirates

(Moline, Ill.) - The Quad City Steamwheelers (3-4) became the second team in af2 history to notch 100 franchise victories with a 54-27 victory over the Peoria Pirates (2-5) in front of 4,812 at the i wireless Center on Saturday, May 17. Kevin Adams tallied two key interceptions, returning one for 45 yards early in the second quarter to help seal the Wheelers victory. The score put the Wheelers up 21-6 and the team never looked back.
Steamwheelers quarterback J.J. Raterink threw five touchdowns for 263 yards on 23 completions, while rushing for one touchdown. He spread the ball around hitting Schmidt for a game-high 91 receiving yards on nine catches. While Schimidt tallied a touchdown, Deontrae Johnson had eight catches for 90 yards and two scores. Kris Peters also tallied two touchdown catches on the night. Fullback Russell Monk finished the game with four carries for 10 yards and a touchdown. On defense, Adams had a game-high 8.5 tackles and three pass breakups, while Tyus Jackson recorded two sacks. Jordan Davis also tallied three pass breakups on the night.
For the Pirates, Justin Rascati tallied two touchdown tosses on 183 yards and 24 completions, while also rushing for a game high 55 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Robert Garth had two touchdown catches and 59 yards on four catches, while Darren Paige tallied a team-high 65 receiving yards on nine catches. On defense, Kofi Amoah had 7.5 tackles.
