Quad City Steamwheelers News Release
(Davenport, IA) - The Quad City Steamwheelers announced today that the arenafootball2 league has assigned Iowan WR Jesse Schmidt to the roster.
Schmidt joins the Steamwheelers squad after being ranked as the number one prospect on the SCOUT CAMP combines.com web site.
"Jesse (Schmidt) has a lot of great accolades at wide receiver," says Head Coach Sean Ponder. "I found him on combines.com and he was rated the best player among all of the players, not just at his position."
Schmidt played wide receiver at Buena Vista (Storm Lake, Iowa) from 2002 to 2005. During that time the 6-foot-3, 220 pound rookie wide receiver set numerous school records including: career receiving yardage (2,314), career catches (132) and most touchdowns in a season (12 in 2004). In 2005, the Laurens, Iowa, native was named to the Don Hansen All- West Region team and he participated in the Aztec Bowl.
