Quad City Steamwheelers News Release
(Davenport, IA) - The Quad City Steamwheelers and Trinity Regional Health System have teamed up to raise money for the Trinity Health Foundation for the second straight home game. After the July 22 game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers starting at 7:15 p.m. on Orthopaedic Specialists Field at The MARK of the Quad Cities; the Steamwheelers will auction the helmet of 12 players to fans. All proceeds from the helmet auction will go to support the Trinity Health Foundation.
"The jersey auction was extremely successful," said Larry Bush, majority partner/operator for the Steamwheelers. "We hope to continue that success with our helmet auction following this weekend's game. Our fans have proved over the past seven years that they not only love the Steamwheelers, but that love to support the community through these charity auctions."
The winning bidders of the helmets will receive a certificate that they will use to claim their helmet at the conclusion of the Steamwheelers season. The helmets will be autographed by the player that wore it.
The Trinity Health Foundation
The Trinity Health Foundation was founded in 1984 as a not-for-profit, charitable organization. The mission of the Foundation is to "To promote the well-being of the Quad-City area by financially supporting health-related programs and services in the Trinity Regional Health System and the broader community."
"Trinity Health Foundation is very grateful that the Steamheelers have again chosen us to be the recipient of the proceeds from its July 22nd helmet auction," said Berlinda Tyler-Jamison, President of the Trinity Health Foundation. "As with the jersey auction, the proceeds from the helmet auction will be used to help patients with breast or prostate cancer or heart disease. I can only hope that the auction will be as successful, spirited and rewarding as was the jersey auction."
The Trinity Health Foundation has raised money for various health related projects in the Quad City community. The latest fundraiser was the "Stylin' Against Breast Cancer" featuring a luncheon and fashion show with all proceeds going to breast cancer related programs. Some of the other projects that the Trinity Health Foundation has or is currently supporting are the purchasing of VNHA telehealth monitors, distribution of 10,000 oral health/prevention kits for people in need, Midwest Hope and Healing, an organization that provides healing baskets for women undergoing breast cancer treatment, and many other projects.
