Steamers to host Dallas Nov. 22; kickoff 7:05 p.m at The Family Arena
November 17, 2003 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
St. Louis Steamers News Release
(St. Louis, Nov. 17, 2003) The St. Louis Steamers look to finish their five-game home stand on a positive note with upcoming games Nov. 22 against the Dallas Sidekicks, and Nov. 26 against the defending MISL champion Baltimore Blast at The Family Arena. The Steamers are coming off a hard-fought 7-3 loss to the Philadelphia KiXX Nov. 14. Despite dressing just 14 players due to injuries, St. Louis hung tough with the MISL Eastern Division leading KiXX and trailed just 3-2 at halftime. However, Philadelphia scored three consecutive goals in the third period to put the game away.
The Steamers hope to have the services of starting goalkeeper Brett Phillips for the Nov. 22 7:05 p.m. kickoff against the Sidekicks. Phillips had arthroscopic knee surgery in late October and has been sidelined for the past two St. Louis games, both losses. Rookie Jason Cole will provide an added boost for the Steamers against Dallas. Cole missed the Philadelphia game due to a death in the family. St. Louis forward Sipho Sibiya, among the team's top offensive threats, might return for the Dallas game as well. Sibiya has missed the past two Steamers games with a groin injury.
Dallas is 3-4 overall and 0-2 on the road this season. The game is the first of four matches between the two clubs this season and will be televised live in the Dallas area.
The club's corporate I.D. program continues at The Family Arena on Saturday. Any person who shows a valid corporate identification at the box office receives $2 off Red / White / Blue section tickets. Participating companies for this program are Maritz, Ameren U.E., Laclede Gas, and SSM St. Joseph hospitals.
