Steamers to Hold Celebrity Shots for Tots December 1

(St. Louis, Dec. 3, 2003) The St. Louis Steamers will hold a "Shots for Tots" event at halftime of their Dec. 13, 1:05 p.m. game against the Monterrey (Mexico) Fury at The Family Arena. Five local celebrities/media personalities will be given the opportunity to take five shots from midfield into an open goal. Steamers Marketing LLC will donate $20 for each goal scored to the St. Louis chapter of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.
Toys for Tots will use the monetary donation to furnish gifts for needy children in the area for the upcoming holidays. In addition to the Shots for Tots event, the Steamers will have Toys for Tots drop boxes in the concourse of The Family Arena for the Dec. 13 game. Fans interested in helping the cause are asked to bring new, unwrapped toys to the Arena to drop in the specified Toys for Tots boxes.
The Dec. 13 matchup also features a "Family 4-Pack" offer. As part of the deal, fans can get four red-level seats, four hot dogs, and four 20-ounce soft drinks for just $40. The package offers a savings of $30 off the regular price for the combined items. The Steamers' Dec. 13 game against Monterrey is the first matchup of the 2003-04 season between the two teams. Monterrey â like St. Louis â is competing in its inaugural season in the revamped Major Indoor Soccer League. Nicknamed the Fury, Monterrey opened its new arena (Arena Monterrey) Nov. 30 with a 5-4 win over Dallas in front of 14,776 fans.
