Steamers host Monterrey Feb. 12 in 10:35 a.m. "School-Day" matchup

St. Louis Steamers forward Sterling Wescott scored two first-quarter goals and later added two assists to lead the St. Louis Steamers to a 6-2 victory over the San Diego Sockers Feb. 7 at the St. Charles Family Arena. Mark Thomas (one goal, one assist), Sipho Sibiya (one goal, one assist), and Daryl Doran (one goal, one assist) also had strong games on offense, and goalkeeper Brett Phillips was solid in the nets as St. Louis improved to 7-14 on the season. The Steamers' six-goal outburst came against a San Diego defense featuring goalkeeper Victor Nogueira and defender Sean Bowers; both players recently were named to participate in the Feb. 29 MISL All-Star Game in St. Louis.

The Steamers have three of their next four games at The Family Arena prior to the Feb. 27-29 All-Star Weekend. On Feb. 12, the Monterrey Fury visits the Steamers for a 10:35 a.m. "School-Day" game. All seats for the game are just $5. The Steamers then host the San Diego Sockers Feb. 16 for a 1:05 p.m. Presidents' Day contest.

The Steamers rallied to beat Monterrey 4-3 Dec. 13 at The Family Arena. Steve Butcher led the Steamers with two goals and Daryl Doran added two assists. Two scheduled road games at Monterrey (Jan. 11 and Feb. 8) have been postponed until after the All-Star break.

MISL All-Star Weekend Tickets on Sale Now

Tickets are on sale now for the 2004 MISL All-Star Weekend -- Feb. 27-29 in St. Louis. The Feb. 29 All-Star Game kicks off at 1:05 p.m. at The Family Arena. The world's best professional indoor soccer players will battle in a USA vs. International format. Then, at 4 p.m. the MISL Legends game will be played. Presented by the BIG 550 KTRS, the MISL Legends game features MISL Legends against Steamers Legends such as Slobo Ilijevski, Steve Pecher, Tony Glavin, Carl Rose, Don Ebert, and many more. Local legends meet in St. Louis for All-Star Weekend

Many of the most prominent names – and faces – in St. Louis' rich soccer history will be on display during the Feb. 29 MISL Legends Game at The Family Arena and throughout the three-day MISL All-Star Weekend, Feb. 27-29. On Feb. 4, the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced the MISL Legends roster. The MISL Legends will take on the Steamers Legends in a 4 p.m. game immediately after the MISL All-Star Game, which kicks off at 1:05 p.m. at The Family Arena. Among those named to the MISL Legends roster are St. Louis natives Jamie Swanner, David Brcic, Mark Moser, and Tim Walters. The Steamers Legends roster, announced Jan. 20, will be coached by St. Louis natives Pat McBride, Al Trost, and Pete Sorber. Steamers Legends scheduled to appear include: Steve Pecher, Slobo Ilijevski, Tony Glavin, Ty Keough, Carl Rose, Don Ebert, Redmond Lane, Tony Bellinger, John Stremlau, Jeff Cacciatore, Jim Kavanaugh, Mark Frederickson, Denny Vaninger, Don Droege, John Hayes, and Eric Delabar. Twelve of the 16 Steamers Legends players listed above were born and raised in St. Louis.

News 20 to televise Steamers games; Feb. 16, March 17 games slated to air four times on tape-delayed basis

The St. Louis Steamers have announced that two upcoming home games will be televised by News 20. The Steamers Feb. 16 game against the San Diego Sockers will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis on the following dates: Feb. 18 at 7 p.m., and Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. The Steamers March 17 game also will be broadcast by News 20 via tape-delay: March 18 at 7 p.m., and March 20 at 1 p.m. News 20, North County News is owned and operated by the city of Black Jack, Mo. The channel is distributed via Charter Communication throughout St. Louis and parts of Illinois.
