
Steamers Fall To Comets 6-3

ST. LOUIS - The Steamers lost their first home game since Dec. 3 when they lost to the Kansas City Comets 6-3 on Friday night at Savvis Center in front of a season-high attendance of 8,998. With the loss, St. Louis is now in a first place tie with the Philadelphia Kixx.
The Steamers opened the scoring just 31 seconds into the game when Addae Rique beat goalkeeper Sanaldo to take a 1-0 lead. Kansas City responded with two goals in the quarter on tallies by Miodrag Djerisilo and James Koehler. Koehler would score again at the 2:07 mark of the second. Mike Apple scored for St. Louis but Anthony Maher would add another goal for the Comets and Kansas City led 4-2 at the half.
Vlatko Andonovski scored the first goal in the second half to increase the Comets lead to 5-2. The Steamers would add another goal by Randy Soderman but Koehler would score again for the Comets to record a hat-trick and Kansas City would win the contest 6-3.
St. Louis is now 12-7 and in a first place tie with Philadelphia. The Steamers will visit the Kixx on Saturday evening at 6:05 p.m. with first place on the line.
