Milwaukee Wave News Release

St. Louis, MO - Milwaukee entered Saturday night's game hoping to build momentum after a loss to the Chicago Storm the night before. Much like the game in Chicago, the Wave played their opponent tight throughout most of the game, but a third quarter where St. Louis outscored Milwaukee 4-1 was big in sending the Wave to the 8-4 defeat.

The game opened with both teams playing tough defense and nearly 14 minutes went by before the first goal was scored. "Chile" Farias of St. Louis notched the first and only score of the quarter at 13:39.

Marcelo Fontana and the Wave came back to tie the game 1:47 into the second quarter. Todd Dusosky assisted on the play. The Steamers came back with two goals before the end of the second frame to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. Joe Reiniger and Jamar Beasley did the damage for St. Louis.

Milwaukee entered the third quarter down two scores, but they weren't able to close the gap against St. Louis. Mariano Bollella opened the scoring for the Steamers and Kyt Selaidopoulos responded a few minutes later for the Wave. With the score standing at 4-2, St. Louis rattled off three unanswered scores by Michael Apple, Shaun David and Elvir Kafedzic to lead Milwaukee by a score of 7-2 through three quarters.

The Wave added two sixth attacker goals late in the fourth quarter, but couldn't complete the comeback. Michael King and Greg Howes registered the Wave goals (each assisted on the other's goal). The loss drops Milwaukee's record to 17-12 with one game remaining in the regular season.

The Wave wraps up the regular season in California on April 9. The game will kickoff at 6:00 p.m. central time. Post-season play will begin the weekend of April 21 for Milwaukee. Call the Wave ticket office at 414-224-WAVE for details on a home playoff game held either April 21 or 23, depending upon the seeding.
