Statement from the Belleville Bulls: to Our Fans & Community

December 11, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Belleville Bulls News Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - The Belleville Bulls Hockey Club recognizes the importance of our position in this community and the role of our players in the hearts and minds of hockey fans of all ages. Recently our club has gone through the significant suspension of a key player in the area of respect and the use of social media. We are pleased to welcome Jake Marchment back to the ice and our team will continue to support him as he moves forward from this experience.

Our team has worked with a local support group to provide additional education to help our team better understand expectations for and consequences of their personal actions. Our goal is to help our players develop in alignment with the value of respect for all that our league and hockey club stand for. Our team better understands from this incident about the elevated expectations for leaders of our hockey club.

Early in the new year we expect to name a new captain for our team. Until that time our three overage players will all wear A's. Their shared leadership experience will help guide our team through this challenging period. Our focus will be on winning hockey games and contributing positively to our community.
