-SPIKES WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE: Fresh off of back-to-back wins, the State College Spikes finish their three-game series with the Oneonta Tigers tonight at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Tonight's doubleheader will be the third of the season for the Spikes, and their second at home. State College swept Mahoning Valley in two games on July 24, but split a twin bill at Jamestown six nights later. The Spikes are 4-6 all-time against the Tigers, with Oneonta taking all three meetings in 2008.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes matched the biggest comeback in team history, going down 4-0 to Oneonta before scoring nine unanswered runs to win, 9-4, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Tuesday. Brock Holt hit his sixth home run of the season, a two-run shot that broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning. Holt ended the game with four RBI. Craig Parry also delivered, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Tyler Cox earned his team-leading sixth victory to slide into a tie for second in the league in wins.

-PEREIRA AND ERICKSON ON THE HILL: Left-hander Nelson Pereira makes his return to a starting role tonight for State College in game one, with a 14-inning scoreless streak to his credit already this year. Right-hander Jason Erickson goes for the Spikes in game two.

-TIGERS GO WITH SANZ AND HAMILTON: Right-hander Luis Sanz goes for his team-leading 10th start of the season in game one for Oneonta. The Venezuelan has gone at least six innings in each of his last six starts. Righty Cory Hamilton gets the ball in game two.

-TRIO OF SPIKES NAMED ALL-STARS: Brock Holt, Phillip Irwin and Zach Foster each earned NL All-Star mention as the rosters for the 2009 NYPL All-Star Game were announced. The game will take place this coming Tuesday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Holt currently leads all NL All-Stars in home runs with six, Irwin has allowed just one earned run in 22 innings, and Foster has an ERA of 1.10 in 13 apperances out of the bullpen. Tickets are still available for the All-Star Game, as well as the All-Star Mountain Bash, and can be purchased at the Spikes Box Office, or by calling (877) 99-SPIKES or visiting StateCollegeSpikes.com.
