Jamestown's Stonecipher And Lowell's Castillo Added To All-Star Game Rosters

(STATE COLLEGE, PA)- Two additions to the rosters for the 2009 New York-Penn League All-Star Game on Tuesday, August 18 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park were announced today. Jamestown Jammers outfielder Sequoyah Stonecipher has been added to the National League squad, while Lowell Spinners pitcher Yeiper Castillo has been named to the American League All-Star team.

Stonecipher earned an All-Star berth after hitting .264 with two home runs and 12 runs batted in for the Florida Marlins affiliate. The 14th round draft pick of the Marlins in 2009, Stonecipher has played 47 games for Jamestown through August 12.

Castillo is currently in the top ten in the New York-Penn League in earned run average with a mark of 1.98, and his 59 innings pitched are fifth in the league. The Venezuelan right-hander was signed by the Red Sox as a non-drafted free agent in 2005.
