Batavia Muckdogs - St. Louis Cardinals (2-1) @ State College Spikes - Pittsburgh Pirates (0-3)

Game #4 / Home Game #2 RHP Kevin Decker (0-0, 0.00) vs. RHP Nick McCully (0-0, 0.00)

-MUCKDOGS RETURN TO CENTRAL PA: The State College Spikes look for their first win of the 2010 season as they face the Batavia Muckdogs at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The Muckdogs are making their first trip to State College as a Cardinals affiliate without former Spikes manager Mark DeJohn, who now serves as Senior Roving Field Instructor in the St. Louis organization. Dann Bilardello now has the reins as Batavia's manager after working as the Cardinals' minor league catching coordinator during the past three seasons.

-LAST GAME: Despite Kelson Brown's three hits, the Williamsport Crosscutters completed a three-game sweep of the Spikes with a 4-2 victory at Historic Bowman Field. Brown became the first Spikes to collect a trio of base knocks in 2010, and also scored a run. Gift Ngoepe also had a pair of hits for State College. Brooks Pounders, making his first NYPL start at just 19 years of age, took the loss after allowing one unearned run in four innings of work.

-SPIKES SEND DECKER OUT FOR FIRST START: Right-hander Kevin Decker makes his Spikes debut tonight. The College of Charleston alum was the Pirates' 39th-round draft choice in 2010 after going 8-0 with a team-leading 3.78 ERA this past spring. Decker also pitched at Seminole Community College before going to Charleston, and was part of an Indiana state basketball championship team at Washington High School.

-BATAVIA BRINGS MCCULLY TO THE SLAB: The Muckdogs will oppose Decker with righty Nick McCully. The Cardinals' ninth-round selection in the 2009 MLB Draft, McCully was a first-team all-Big South pitcher in his senior year at Coastal Carolina. After being drafted, the Lakeland, FL resident went 1-0 with a 7.20 ERA in 16 appearances for Single-A Quad Cities.

-RECORD CROWD ON FRIDAY: A Medlar Field at Lubrano Park record, standing room only crowd of 5,775 witnessed the Spikes' 2010 Home Opener, as State College fell to Williamsport, 5-3. The attendance mark broke the previous record of 5,757, set on August 30, 2009 in last year's home finale (also against Williamsport). It was also the fifth consecutive sellout of a Home Opener in franchise history.
